How do I export and submit a template for review?

The submission process

Submitting a template for review involves these steps:

  • Categories: grouping the parts of your template together using categories.
  • Export: exporting the template from the Creator Studio Extension.
  • Submit: completing your submission with information and content that will form your template listing on the Store.

Let's look at these steps in detail separately.

Categories

The Creator Studio uses categories to group pages and sections in a template. Each page and featured section to be included in a template for sale must be assigned an appropriate category. You can do this step as you design your template. For detailed instructions on selecting categories, and some helpful tips, please read the guide 'How do I add pages and sections to a template?'.

Preparing your template for export

We use the term export/ing to describe the process of submitting the content you've created in Squarespace. This includes all the designed pages and sections that you wish to submit, that form your template. When you export your template from the Creator Studio Extension in Squarespace, it will display in the Design & Export tab of your Template Submission form.

Completing your submission

The remaining steps are to be completed in the SquareKicker Dashboard. Steps 4 and 5 will only need to be completed for the very first template you submit, unless you wish to update the information you've provided.

There are five (5) steps in the Template Submission form.

All steps must be completed before you can submit your template for review.

Currently, if you wish to make updates or edits to either the Creator Bio or any of the details in your Template Submission form, or the template itself, after you have submitted it for review you will need to contact SquareKicker Creator Support using the link in the Dashboard.

The review process

All SquareKicker Templates are reviewed by the SK team before listing on the Template Store. This applies whether it's the first template you've made or the 10th. We hope that the review process and any feedback given will be a supportive experience that empowers Creators to grow their skills as a Squarespace designer, resulting in premium templates for the customer.

Template Status

You will see a status assigned to each template in the Creator Studio.

  • Draft
  • Pending
  • Revisions
  • Approved
  • Published
  • Unpublished

Upon submission, your template will move from being in a draft state, to pending. A status of pending means that your template has been received by SquareKicker and will be reviewed according to our Template Guidelines. Following this, it will either have a state of Revisions or Approved. We'll be in contact if revisions have been requested on your template. The status will change to Published when it is listed on the Store for purchase - congratulations!
